Found the time...

to complete a couple Inspiration Boards for my shop.

I also found the time to sit through possibly the worst movie ever: 'Rachel getting married'. I thought about walking out a few times, but then I figured something must be getting ready to happen that will make it worth while~ Nope! Awful, the whole way through. I rarely go to the movies, so I was really irritated with myself for choosing to see that when there are so many other good movies out right now. This post will hopefully save someone else from making the same mistake :)

Craft Room Ideas & Inspirations...

One of my favorite decorating/crafting magazines is Country Living. I've saved every issue and have magazines stacked in almost every room of the house. I remember loving this March 2006 issue because of it's practical & functional Craft Room ideas. I'm constantly rearranging and organizing rooms in my home, that's usually when everyone disappears so I don't try and recruit them to help.
If you haven't had the chance to see this issue, I hope you'll enjoy these pictures.
*If you click on each picture you can really see the details*

Doesn't it make you want to start organizing your Craft Space???

The difference between http and https....

A friend sent this to me, something I wasn't aware of! So just in case you didn't know either....I thought it might be helpful.

1. Computer Coup

What is the difference between http:// and https://? It's all about keeping you secure.

HTTP stands for Hyper Text Transport Protocol, which is just a fancy way of saying it's a protocol(a language, in a manner of speaking) For information to be passed back and forth between web servers and clients. The important thing is the letter S which makes the difference between HTTP and HTTPS.

The S(big surprise) stands for "Secure". If you visit a website or webpage, and look at the address in the web browser, it will likely begin with the following: http://

This means that the website is talking to your brower using the regular 'unsecure' language. In other words, it is possible for someone to "eavesdrop" on your computer's conversation with the website. If you fill out a form on the website, someone might see the information you send to that site.

This is why you never ever enter your credit card number in an http website! But if the web address begins with https://, that basically means your coomputer is talking to the website in a secure code that no one can eavesdrop on.
You understand why this is so important right? If a website ever asks you to enter your credit card information, you should automatically look to see if the web address begins with https://. If it doesn't, there's no way you're going to enter sensitive information like a credit card number.

PASS IT ON(You may save someone a lot of grief).

Crafting Time???

So many projects and never enough time!
Lots of new fabric(trying to build my stash back up), some perfectly shabby, vintage & ornate frames(great flea market finds) and lots of ideas swirling around in my head....now I just need to find the time to make them happen!
But things like finding a Red pen that exploded in the dryer(somebody??? forgot to remove it from their pocket) seems to keep me from my Happy Crafting time!!

I'll try again tomorrow....

Summer in the Winter

This is the weather we were told we'd have.....

1. Its raining, 2. Neverending Rain

And this is what our Winter has looked like so far!

1. glorious day on the beach, 2. In a season of calm weather I believe I can fly

Yay! While writing this post, finally some rain came :) I think I counted a whole 25 seconds of rain....and the sun is out again!! I'm sure those of you up to your necks in snow would love some 80 degree weather, but I just want to experience a little bit of Winter!

Fresh & New.....

Nothing like a fresh new Shop Banner!
Scrolling through the pages of Etsy to find a Banner that will best fit my shop is probably my least favorite thing to do, mainly because there are pages and pages and pages of them!! Ugh..... but then I found the Sweetest Shop GreenNest that was a perfect match. Not only is this seller(Claudia)super nice, but her turn-around on making both of my Banners was lightning fast!! She did an awesome job and I could not be more thrilled with them :)
If you're looking for a banner....make sure to check out her shop!

Flea Market find....

Sunday I went to a local flea market and found this Patchwork Quilt. Someone put some serious time into this, it's made up of 3" x 3" squares. I'm loving the variety of cute and interesting little pieces of fabric.

The reason I love collecting vintage is because it comes with a history, something that was already loved by someone else. Unfortunately I'll never know the history behind most of what I collect. Like the lady who made this quilt. What was her name? When was it made: early 1930's, 1940's or 1950's?? Did she make it as a gift or was she just one of those crafty ladies who could make a quilt like it was nothing. Was she married? Did she have children(and if she does, then why don't they have this quilt????). Maybe it's just me, but these are the things I wonder about!
My Dad always said I asked too many questions....wanted to know too many details. When he would be telling me a story at some point he'd say "I don't know what color socks the guy had on!" Well, I like to know as much information and details as possible :)
So, Thank You to whomever you are for my favorite new Quilt.

Feeling Crafty?

Well, if you are then I found some really cool Crafty tutorials that you might want to check out. Sometimes I'm in the mood to bake & sometimes I'm in the mood to CRAFT, today it's crafting!

This first Craft Blog futuregirl.com
has a list of tutorials(and even some downloads). If you go to Site Navigation, then click tutorials...you can scroll through them all. You can even make this little guy, how cute is he!!

The second one I found creative little daisy is awesome because she has a list of "Tutorials by Me" and then right under that "Tutorials by Others", how great is that? You can find them both on her side bar. When you visit the tutorials of others most of them have lists of tutorials on their blogs too. A Smocket~ I don't think this could be any cuter....

I really could spend the rest of the morning clicking from one crafty blog to the next(I'm afraid there's no ending point)so I need to walk away from the computer if I'm going to get anything done.
***O.K. just one more, I had to add this Blog Skip To My Lou she has some great downloads & really neat Handmade gift ideas.
Happy Crafting :)

Happy New Year!!!

I don't usually make new year resolutions, but these are just some of the things I'd like to do more of this year:
Sew more, hike at least once every month, spend more time at the beach, read books til my eyes bleed and take at least one road trip~ that shouldn't be too hard to accomplish(you'd think).

1. 2008 becomes 2009: Happy new year!, 2. meet our new sewing machine. :), 3. Hiking trail, 4. Long Beach, California, 5. Book Thing Finds, 6. Cali Road Trip
